Presidential Proclamation 10052, which was announced last year under former President Trump, was allowed to expire on March 31, 2021. Under this proclamation, the United States suspended the issuance of new visas under the H-1B, H-2B, certain J-1 Exchange Visitor, and L visa programs. As of April 1, 2021 visa issuance for these categories will proceed. Anyone whose arrival in the US was delayed due to this proclamation will have their visa appointments prioritized by US consulates.

For Tufts, the primary impact was a delay in the arrival of new H-1B employees who were expecting to arrive last year but were prevented from doing so due to the proclamation. If this applies to you, please contact your H-1B specialist at the the International Center or send an email to internationalcenter@tufts.edu.
