J-1 scholars and employees are required to complete an orientation session and immigration check-in process after arriving at Tufts. This is to ensure that you receive appropriate information and guidance about how to maintain valid immigration status while conducting research, teaching, or working at Tufts.
J-1 Visa Check-In and Immigration Orientation
Fall 2021 Update: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all International Center locations are currently operating in a hybrid format, with orientation sessions still taking place virtually. J-1 Orientations will be conducted on-line using Zoom on dates/times TBD. Please click on the appropriate link to register for the next available online orientation. Visiting scholars and employees in J-1 status should check in with the International Center within two weeks after arriving at Tufts. Check-in and orientation are mandatory under J-1 visa requirements. Please consult the table below for check-in times with the International Center location responsible for managing your J-1 visa status. Please have your passport, Form DS-2019, and a printout of your I-94 admission record ready when you attend Orientation.
