Emergencies and Port of Entry Issues
Thursday, April, 3rd, 2025 Immigration News and Updates
Review the information on our website regarding what to do and who to contact in an immigration emergency. While the International Center is open Monday – Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm, Tufts University Police Department is available 24 hours a day to receive calls. If you have an emergency issue at a port of entry after hours, call TUPD (617- 627-3030). This will then activate emergency protocols, which include contacting the International Center and/or University Counsel, depending on the circumstances. Download and print our emergency contact card here.
Please also note that Customs and Border Protection (CBP) may send those seeking entry to the U.S. to a secondary inspection office. This does not necessarily mean that there are problems with your record or that you will be denied entry. This process is often used when CBP would like to further verify your documents or, for students and scholars, to check your SEVIS record.
