Traveling and Re-entering the U.S.
Thursday, April, 3rd, 2025 Immigration News and Updates
The International Center has sent out various communications advising students, scholars, and Tufts-sponsored employees to travel with extreme caution or to avoid unnecessary travel, depending on your personal situation, citizenship, and other factors. We have issued this advisory due to reports of increased scrutiny at ports of entry and the potential for future travel restrictions or bans. We recommend that anyone who is considering engaging in travel reach out to their International Center advisor who can provide you with information and help you do your own risk assessment.
We understand that international students, scholars, and employees may need to travel for very important academic and personal reasons. If you travel, we highly recommend that you use the Tufts Travel Registry to log your travel so that the University can locate and contact you should there be emergencies or changes to immigration policies while you are abroad. You should also make sure to review re-entry requirements carefully and make sure you have all of your required documents, including a travel endorsement on your I-20 or DS-2019 for students and scholars. These items should be printed, on your person, and not in your checked luggage.
