Welcome to Tufts!
August 30, 2021
Dear International Students and Scholars and Family Members:
The International Center team would like to welcome all of our new and returning students, scholars, and their accompanying family members to Tufts for the Fall 2021 semester! Whether you are coming to a Tufts campus for the first time, or returning after a break, we hope that you are looking forward to a rich and full Fall 2021 semester.
The International Center is here to help all of our international students and scholars with their visa and immigration questions, questions about practical matters such as banking and Social Security numbers, and much more. We've set up a specialized page on COVID-19 related immigration and visa issues, and we collaborate with our partners in different offices across the University to ensure that students and scholars have a successful start and rewarding experience throughout their time at Tufts.
As you get settled in, you will likely be getting many messages from our office, as well as others. Please be sure to read any message you receive from the International Center, as it may contain vital information and announcements concerning your immigration and visa status and other matters. You may also have questions about specific issues or need help figuring out where to go to solve different problems, so don't hesitate to reach out to us, whether through your specific International Center advisor or by sending an email to the International Center at internationalcenter@tufts.edu. We are here to help!
COVID-19 and International Center Services - Fall 2021
As is clearly evident, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be a worldwide health and safety emergency. Despite much progress that has been made through COVID vaccination programs and other measures, the spread of the Delta variant and ongoing surges of COVID cases in the US and other countries unfortunately continues to be a reality that requires us to remain careful and vigilant. While Tufts's COVID-19 response has been remarkably effective, the International Center believes that current conditions requires us to continue operating in a primarily remote fashion for the immediate future. Fortunately, since the start of the pandemic last year, we have been able to transition many of our services - including one-on-one advising, visa document processing, employment workshops and more - to online formats. We will also have a limited number of walk-in hours for quick document drop-off and pick-up service at our three locations, we appreciate your understanding and patience as we continue to prioritize the safety of our students, scholars, and the International Center staff. You can learn more about our services in our Fall 2021 Get Things Done with the International Center guide. We will revisit our operations and services each month and make changes as conditions warrant.
Once again, welcome to Tufts. We look forward to supporting you through your Tufts journey.
Sincerely,
Tufts International Center
