Tax Deadline Reminder – May 17
Tuesday, April, 27th, 2021 Archived / Inactive Student Resources
Dear international students & scholars,
It’s just a few weeks until the 17 May tax filing deadline! As a non-resident in the US you have a tax filing obligation with the IRS if you were present in the US at any time in 2020, even if you did not receive US income.
Failure to file can lead to complications when applying for US visas in the future.
Tufts University has arranged free access to Sprintax Tax Preparation for you. Sprintax will guide you through the tax preparation process, arrange the necessary documents and check if you are due a tax refund.
Sprintax was used by over 225,000 international students and scholars last year, and the average Federal refund received by eligible students was over $1,126.
All you need to do is:
- Review our tax website to prepare for filing your tax return
- Register for Sprintax and follow the simple instructions
- Complete the online questionnaire
- Enter your unique code: SpR20TU1001F in the box on the ‘Review your order’ page
- Sprintax will prepare your tax return
Finally, once you complete the tax preparation process in the Sprintax software, you will need to either print, sign and mail your documents to the IRS, or you can take advantage of the new option to submit your return electronically via e-file!
If you have any questions, the Sprintax team will be happy to help via their 24/7 live chat facility.
Best Regards,
Tufts International Center
