Travel Bans 3.0 and 4.0 Revoked
Dear International Students and Scholars:
On January 20, 2021, new US President Joseph R. Biden issued a Presidential Proclamation that revoked proclamations issued by former President Donald Trump, restricting the nationals of certain countries from applying for visas to enter the US. These restrictions, often referred to as "Travel Ban 3.0" and "Travel Ban 4.0" respectively, are now revoked and no longer in effect. While Travel Bans 3.0 and 4.0 included a number of exceptions for F-1 student visa applicants, among others, they included broad and comprehensive visa restrictions for citizens of the countries included in these bans.
With the revocation of these travel bans, citizens of the affected countries may pursue visa applications. Visa approvals or denials will be made on an individual basis following US government visa vetting and review processes. Persons who were delayed in visa applications due to the bans should wait for guidance and instruction from their nearest US consulate or embassy for details about the resumption of visa services.
For more information about Travel Bans 3.0 and 4.0, go to our Travel Ban web page which has been updated to reflect President Biden's order of January 20, 2021.
Sincerely,
Tufts International Center
