The International Center and the Student Health Insurance office have collaborated on developing this brief guide to health insurance waiver requirements.
This guide is intended for students at the Medford and SMFA campuses, including students in Arts & Sciences, SMFA, Engineering, and the Fletcher School. International students in these schools are automatically enrolled in Tufts's student health insurance plan as required under Massachusetts state law. However, students may waive the health insurance requirement if they have comparable health insurance from a US-based health insurance carrier (company). The plan must meet the minimum standards set out in the Affordable Care Act, or be "ACA-compliant."
