Update on the H-1B nonimmigrant visa program
Tuesday, September, 23rd, 2025 News and Updates
The Director of US Citizenship and Immigration Services issued a memorandum late Saturday, September 20, clarifying the application of the previously announced Presidential Proclamation does not impact current H-1B employees, including their ability to travel to our from the United States if they are in possession of the appropriate documentation.
The International Center is currently advising that H-1B employees travel with caution during this time due to the potential for confusion at U.S. ports of entry. Current employees outside of the country awaiting visa renewal should proceed with the process and await updates from the consular post. We do not recommend that employees within the U.S. proactively travel to seek stamp renewal at this time due to the potential for delays. Employees should continue to monitor their emails from the International Center and those with questions should contact their International Center Advisor or email internationalcenter@tufts.edu.
