Tax-filing season in the US is now through April 18, 2022.

Remember that all nonresidents in the US required to file a tax return if you received US income during 2021 by the 18 April 2022 deadline. And even if you didn’t work or receive income in the US, you’re still obliged to file a Form 8843 with the IRS if you were physically present in the US at any time during calendar year 2021. Please be sure to check out our dedicated tax-filing website for full details about who must file a tax return, and how to file.

Getting ready to file your tax return? We highly recommend to first attend a webinar to understand what to expect as you prepare to file your 2021 tax return. Sprintax, who provides our nonresident tax-filing software, will host two live webinars exclusively for the Tufts community this spring. All international students and scholars in F-1 and J-1 status are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Can’t make it to one of these two private webinars for Tufts? You are also welcome to join a public session hosted by Sprintax. These sessions will contain similar nonresident tax-filing overviews and instructions, but are open to the public rather than limited to the Tufts international community.
